Tile Production

Tile designed and produced by Courtney King brings warmth and originality to spaces, enriching life.  Each tile is made by hand, using old world techniques, natural clays and glazes that offer subtle color variations, and a variety of textures.  Inspiration drawn from organic forms and patterns found in nature are combined with modern influences to offer decorative and functional tile in a line of field and trim tiles, architectural details and wall pieces.
Courtney King's design and green building experience, as well as her training in the Henry Mercer Moravian Pottery and Tileworks tradition, influences all aspects of her tile making practices.  From concept to installation, she brings a respect for the natural environment together with beauty and functionality.

Glaze blends (lead-free) and firing techniques (including once firing for efficiency) are created for custom projects using a combination of earthenware and stoneware clays that are 100% certified non-toxic.  Tile is fired to a cone range of 01-5 in automatic kilns that efficiently use electricity to reach temperature.  All production “waste” such as unused clay scraps and seconds are saved and recycled into future projects.

Through green building design and tile production, Courtney actively supports and fosters environmental sustainability, practices and awareness.
